A blocked sewer main has caused a sewer spill near Symes Road in Harcourt beneath the Barker's Creek Viaduct. Sewerage has spilled mostly onto nearby land, however a small amount has entered Barkers Creek.

Crews are onsite to cleanup, and there is signage in place.

Our Environmental Response Officer has attended the site and taken water samples for water quality testing.

The sewer services in the region are not impacted.

Fats and wet wipes are the cause of the sewer spill. It’s a good reminder to only flush the Three Ps – pee, poo and (toilet) paper.
