The latest upgrades to the Kyneton Water Reclamation Plant, known as the Kyneton Solutions Project, are now complete and providing beneficial re-use options for the region’s wastewater.

Coliban Water and its private sector partners have invested in excess of $20 million in the project, which has more than tripled storages capacity at the Kyneton Water Reclamation Plant (WRP) - providing an avenue for irrigating dryland farming via a new pipeline and delivering better environmental outcomes for the Campaspe River.

The final stage of the Kyneton Solutions Project is a recycled water irrigation pipeline. Travelling 14 kilometres north from the WRP, the pipeline has taken eight months to complete and will initially deliver between 200 and 300 megalitres of recycled water to landowners and businesses per year.
The $7.5 million pipeline was jointly funded by the Federal government ($3.75M) and Coliban Water ($3.75M) and will provide a boost to agricultural productivity in the region.

Crofton Park is the first property to benefit from the Class C recycled water, which is approved by the Environment Protection Authority for use in agricultural irrigation. The 60-hectare farm was selected after a land capability assessment and a commitment from the owner to partner with Coliban Water over the long-term.

The upgraded plant and pipeline aims to service the growing Kyneton community until 2040.
