Following significant rainfall across the region and inflows to the Kyneton Water Reclamation Plant (WRP), we have advised the Environment Protection Authority (EPA) Victoria today that we will commence controlled releases of excess stormwater and treated recycled water from our Kyneton WRP to Snipes Creek, and our Heathcote Water Reclamation Plant to McIvor Creek today.

Controlled releases of water to the environment are now necessary to return the amount of water in the lagoons to a safe level, protect lagoon embankments, and ensure the safe ongoing operation in Kyneton and Heathcote.

The volume amount and release duration are dependent on the amount of rain received, and may be adjusted or extended to ensure the safe ongoing operation of these sites.

The water that will be released has been assessed as Class B recycled water. It is being further diluted by extremely high flows currently moving through the waterways.

Downstream landowners on Snipes Creek and McIvor Creek have been previously advised of this potential risk, and have been notified regarding the commencement of releases.

We encourage landowners in these locations to contact us with their best contact details so we can provide real time notifications. Ongoing updates will be provided on Coliban.com.au.
