As stated in our Sustainability Strategy, the relationship between energy and water is strongly related, as we require electricity to move water around our region to provide security for our water supplies.

A high priority action of the Sustainability Strategy is to develop a program to minimise our electricity consumption through exploring energy savings throughout the lifecycle of our assets.

The diagrams below show where the majority of our emissions originated form in 2010-11. Electricity usage accounts for more than 85% of our Greenhouse Gas emissions.

We monitor and report our Greenhouse Gas Emissions through the federal National Greenhouse Emissions Reporting System. The increase in emissions between 2006-07 to 2007-08 was related to the first year of operation of the Goldfields Superpipe. In 2010-11 the Goldfields Superpipe was not in use due the record rainfall conditions and full storages.
