WaterSmart is a program designed to help people reduce water use in their homes by making water saving even easier.
It is part of the State Government’s commitment to reward and encourage the great efforts made by Victorian's so far.
Around 100,000 households in metropolitan Melbourne and 10,000 households from specific areas of Bendigo, Ballarat and Geelong have been invited to participate.
Eligible households that choose to join WaterSmart will receive a 10-month guided program where they will be provided with specialist advice and helpful ideas on managing water consumption more efficiently at home. In return, participating households are asked to read their water meter monthly and to provide the reading.
Customers will be provided with some basic water saving devices. The program also offers the opportunity for participating households to be in the running for super-efficient white goods and other great prizes.
Program participants will hopefully gain a greater understanding of how much water they use around their home - and will be able to change their day-to-day use of water to achieve water savings and therefore cost savings.
A major outcome of the program will be an understanding of what assists, influences and motivates water use efficiency. This information will assist in the development of future water conservation programs.
WaterSmart is free for all eligible participants.
