Planned works and interruptions

We regularly carry out planned works and projects to repair and upgrade our systems.

As a result some disruption to service and traffic interruptions may occur. We try and keep these to a minimum and where possible provide advance notice in local newspapers, on this website and by direct mail.

We have not listed all our current planned works below; just the works that may impact customers from traffic or service interruptions.

The information is as up-to-date as possible but is subject to change at short notice. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

Water supply mains cleaning, Bendigo Various locations, Bendigo, Axedale, Huntly, Marong, Raywood and Sebastian Monday 5 February 2018 - 30 April 2018

We are carrying out routine maintenance in the Bendigo water supply networks.

This includes the surrounding towns of Axedale, Huntly, Marong, Raywood and Sebastian.

The program involves a small increase to the amount of chlorine that is added to the networks. This is to ensure the disinfection levels of the networks are maintained.

Some residents may notice slight changes to the taste and odour of the drinking water. The water is safe to drink and meets Australian Drinking Water Guidelines.

Residents can seek further advice from local pet shop regarding aquariums and may like to review treatment processes due to the small change in chlorine levels.

Napier Street upgrade project water main relocation, Bendigo Napier Street (between Willman Court and Hamelin Street) November 2017 - March 2018

A contractor is relocating water mains as part of VicRoads Napier Street upgrade project.

There will be some short interruptions to water supply.

Customers who are affected will be notified.

Minor traffic interruptions as required.

Water carting, Mitiamo Mitiamo 9 February 2018 until further notice

We have started carting water to supply the township of Mitiamo after routine water quality testing detected levels of blue green algae in the water supply basin that services Mitiamo.

The frequency of sampling and testing of the water in the basin has increased and we will continue to monitor results closely.

Customers are reminded that Mitiamo’s town water supply is non-potable (un-treated) and is not suitable for drinking, personal and dental hygiene or food preparation purposes.

Residents have been notified and we will provide further updates as needed.

Planned water main shutdown, Bendigo Athena Way, Strathfieldsaye 9am to 12pm, Thursday 22 February 2018

There will be a planned water main shutdown to connect a new section of water main.

Customers who are affected have been notified.

Bendigo Water Treatment Plant sewer pipeline upgrade project, Bendigo Tuckermans Lane through to Calder Highway, Big Hill December 2017 until April 2018

Our contractor, Interflow, is carrying out a sewer main upgrade from the Bendigo Water Treatment Plant through to Calder Highway Big Hill.

Minor traffic interruptions as required.

No disruption to services.


Water treatment plant process installation, Heathcote Heathcote and Tooborac Monday 18 December 2017 until further notice

We have installed an additional treatment process at the Heathcote Water Treatment Plant to ensure that any taste and odour compounds that are present in the raw water supply are treated and removed, prior to supply to customers.


The Powdered Activated Carbon (PAC) dosing process removes these compounds and was installed as a proactive measure to minimise any potential impacts on the quality of drinking water that we supply to our customers.


All drinking water is treated to a standard that meets the requirements of the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines and Victoria’s Safe Drinking Water Act.


Residents will be receiving notification of the additional treatment process and we will continue to keep the community informed on this page.

Water meter replacement program

Various locations September 2017 - April 2018

As part of our Routine Renewals program our contractor, Select Solutions, is replacing the water flow meter at various properties in our region.

Customers who are affected have been notified.

We are carrying out chlorine disinfection on the Kyneton water supply network.

There will be no disruption to supply although you may notice a change in the taste and odour of drinking water.

The water is safe to drink and meets Australian Drinking Water Standards.

Our contractor, RSP Environmental Services, is carrying out CCTV sewer main inspections and cleaning in various locations across our region.

Standpipe works, Marong

 

 

 

Calder Alternative Highway, Marong 2 March 2017 until further notice

The Marong standpipe has been temporarily flow controlled.

Regular users of the standpipe will notice that it will take longer to fill their tanks.

The nearest alternative standpipes are on Loddon Valley Highway (close to intersection with Grintons lane), Myers Flat, and at Station Street (close to intersection with Olympic Parade), Kangaroo Flat.
