Community Engagement

> Customer committees

Our customer committees provide feedback on services, strategies and projects that we are planning to deliver and ensure people are engaged in future planning and decision-making.

In addition to working with our customer committees we meet and work with local interest groups including town progress associations.

> Your Town Visits

The idea behind the Your Town visits program is to provide customers with an opportunity to meet with staff face to face in the communities where we provide services.

Our aim is to provide information on projects in the area, billing or service enquiries, tips on saving water and to answer any questions community members may have.

> Annual Public Meetings

Our annual public meetings are usually held around April and are open to all our customers and community groups.

These meetings are an opportunity for us to openly engage with customers, outline our focus for the coming year and provide context to the last 12 months.

> Water Plan 2013-2018

For our Water Plan 2013-2018 we carried out extensive consultation. We surveyed our residential and most of our non-residential customers, and mailed our draft plan to all our customers.

We held 19 information sessions and received more than 1300 feedback forms, phone calls, emails and letters.

> Project engagement

Before commencing any major capital works we engage the community through direct mail, community updates, customer committees, surveys, web pages and project information days.

Project engagement is held at key stages of a project to inform, consult and involve stakeholders and the community and engage them in the decision-making process.

For further information on our projects see our Projects page.

> Customer and stakeholder research

Each year we consider what research is needed to evaluate and benchmark our performance and understand the opinions and perceptions of our customers. We carry out customer-wide research, as well as targeted research for specific customer groups such as Rural, Commercial and Trade Waste.
