The State Government's Our Water Our Future Bendigo Regional Action Plan commits all of us in Central Victoria to improve the way in which we manage and use water to ensure the long-term health of our water resources.

Waterplan 2055 provides further detail on the actions thatare being taken to secure our water supplies for at least the next 50 years.

In June 2004 the State Government released its Our Water Our Future action plan to secure Victoria's water futrue over the next 50 years.

The Bendigo Regional Action Plan highlights Our Water Our Future initiatives of specific relevance to this area.

> North Region Sustainable

Water Strategy

In January 2008 the Minister for Water, Tim Holding launched the consultation process for developing the North Region Sustainable Water Strategy by releasing a discussion paper that describes future challenges to water supplies and identifies a range of possible measures to face these challenges.

The strategy will guide future planning to secure water supplies for households, industry, farmers and rives over the next 50 years.

Written submissions to the discussion paper are due by 29 February 2008.

Draft strategy released mid 2008

Community consultation period.

Final strategy released early 2009.
