Water Restrictions

> Axedale water restrictions eased from 19 June 2009

From midnight Friday 19 June, Axedale will move to Stage 3 water restrictions.

Axedale became part of the Coliban System (Northern) water supply on 4 June with the completion of the Axedale pipeline project - connecting Axedale to the Bendigo water supply system.

> Watering Times have changed

From the 12 March 2009, watering times have changed as daylight hours get shorter and we move into the cooler months of the year.

For customers on Stage 2 restrictions, the major change is to the use of manual sprinklers from 6am - 8am and 5pm - 7pm on the odds and evens system.

Stage 3 customers can use a trigger nozzle hose, bucket, watering can or manual dripper system between
6am - 8am and 5pm -7pm on permitted days.

Stage 4 General Exemption customers can water garden areas with a trigger nozzle hose, bucket or watering can only between 6pm and 7pm on permitted days.

> Pools and spas

Under the requirements of water restrictions a customer wanting to fill a new or existing pool or spa with a capacity of 2000 litres or more is required to submit a Water Conservation Plan to Coliban Water for approval. For more infromation > click here

 

> Water Carter Permit

A water carter permit is required to take water from a public standpipe if the standpipe is in an area under Water Restrictions ByLaw No 10. Commercial water carters and private individuals must have a permit. To find out more about standpipes in our region and water carter permits > click here

> Kyneton and Castlemaine continuation of Stage 4 General Exemption

The following towns in the in the Coliban System Southern area will remain on Stage 4 General Exemption Water restrictions into 2009:

Barkers Creek, Castlemaine, Kyneton, Harcourt, Maldon, Campbells Creek, Newstead, Guildford, Fryerstown, Chewton, Elphinstone, Taradale, Malmsbury, Muckleford, Tylden and Yapeen.

This general exemption permits the use of a hand-held hose with trigger nozzle to water up to two hours each week on specified days and times.

> Bendigo and Heathcote Stage 3 Water Restrictions from 1 January

The following towns in the Coliban System Northern area will move to Stage 3 water restrictions from midnight on 1 January 2009:

Ascot, Bendigo, Big Hill, California Gully, Eaglehawk, Epsom, Flora Hill, Golden Square, Heathcote, Huntly, Ironbark, Jackass Flat, Junortoun, Kangaroo Flat, Kennington, Lockwood, Long Gully, Maiden Gully, Mandurang, Marong, Myers Flat, Quarry Hill, Sailors Gully, Spring Gully, Strathdale, Strathfieldsaye, Tooborac and White Hills.

This change in water restriction level does not apply to Raywood and Sebastian. These townships will remain on Stage 4 General Exemption due to the existing need to truck water to meet customer demand.
