> The Project
Both the Leitchville and Gunbower Water Treatment Plants are in need of upgrading. Gunbower was built in 1994 and Leitchville in 1986.
We are planning to undertake major upgrades at both sites that will improve water treatment reliability and address broader operational issues for each system.
We are also rectifying a number of occupational health and safety risks that have been identified at each site.
Water supply will not be impacted during the works. There may be some variations to water pressure, colour and taste whilst the new infrastructure is commissioned, however the water supply will remain safe to drink and these variations will be limited.
> Timeline and Cost
Works commenced on site in Gunbower in August 2011 and are anticipated to finish early 2012.
Works in Leitchville will commence early 2012 and are anticipated to be completed by the end of 2012.
The upgrade to both sites will cost a total of $13.1million.
