To improve the reliability of supply to customers in both Leitchville and Gunbower, Coliban Water plans to substantially upgrade the Leitchville Water Treatment Plant and to construct a nine kilometre pipeline to connect the Leitchville and Gunbower water treatment plants.

Rather than upgrade both treatment plants, the Gunbower plant will connect to the Leitchville plant which will be increased in size to accommodate both townships. New ground level tanks and a 20 metre high standpipe water tank will also be installed at Leitchville.

Once the project is complete a significant percentage of the Gunbower Treatment Plant will no longer be in use.
