Standpipes in the Coliban Water Region

> Averys Road Standpipe Closed

The Averys Road Standpipe in Bendigo closed at 5pm on Friday, 30 May. Bendigo Mining advised that treatment of water at the New Moon Plant would cease at the end of May.

Customers of the Averys Road standpipe have been posted a letter with detailed information.

Avdata key options::

  • Use the credit on your Avdata key prior to the closure of the Averys Road standpip;
  • Have your Avdata key access transferred to Elmore which is currently on Stage 1; or
  • Apply for a refund of any outstanding credit. 

All customers who return their Avdata keys to Coliban Water will receive a refund for the $20 deposit paid on the key. This refund will be by cheque or bank transfer, and will take a minimum of 14 days to process.

> Management of standpipes

Standpipes in our region are managed by local government authorities. As of November 15, 2007 Coliban Water will manage the Averys Road Standpipe in Eaglehawk. The Averys Road standpipe is currently closed.

> Water Carter Permits

A water carter permit is required to take water from a public standpipe if the standpipe is in an area under Water Restrictions ByLaw No 9. Commercial water carters and private individuals must have a permit.

If your application is approved you will receive by post a windscreen permit to apply to your vehicle, and also a permit card which you must present when requested by an officer of Coliban Water.

Potable and Raw Water
All water taken from standpipes (public or private) must be used in accordance with the water restrictions in force at the time. No recycled water standpipes exist in the Coliban Water Region

Our Water Enforcement Team visits standpipes on a regular basis, to monitor use and to educate water carters on approved uses for water.

Coliban Water also conducts random audits to ensure water is used appropriately, including water taken from standpipes. We appreciate your co-operation in ensuring the requirements of the By-Law are met.
