Water Plan 2008-2013 - What it means for You

> Background to our Water Plan 2008-2013

We need our customers to have confidence that sound plans are in place to deliver safe and reliable services into the future. Customers also need to be sure that water charges are fair and justified.

The Essential Services Commission (ESC) an independent regulator has been set up to create this confidence and certainty.

As part of this arrangement all water corporations in Victoria are required to produce a Water Plan that sets out all its plans for the five years from 2008 to 2013.

The ESC is then responsible for checking that we have included everything that is needed, that our programs are justified, and that our costs and charges are reasonable and realistic.

The Essential Services Commission website has the final determination for each of the Victorian water corporations.

> Water Security Plans

Our Waterplan 2055 was launched in 2006 and set out water security plans are for the Coliban System of the Coilban Water Region (Bendigo, Castlemaine, Kyneton and Heathcote towns and areas).

Waterplan 2055 Extra is a water security strategy for the 28 towns in the Campaspe, Goulburn, Groundwater, Loddon, Murray and Wimmera systems of the Coliban Water Region.

We reviewed our Water Supply Demand Strategy (WSDS) at the beginning of 2012 and submitted it to the Department of Sustainability and Environment and Minister for Water on 30 March 2012.

This is a 50-year strategy to balance the supply of water to meet our region’s residential, business and community water needs.
