Action Plans
Prepare an action plan to implement water conservation actions; and
There are many ways that you can save water these can range from water efficient toilets and urinals, flow restrictors, installing rainwater tanks, recycling water, trigger nozzles, optimizing cleanout processes and cooling towers, water efficiency signage, encouraging staff to be aware of water usage and to report leakages. Many more ideas can be found under the “Business” heading on the www.savewater.com.au website. |
| The most innovative ideas typically come from staff members that understand the process they are using. By involving staff in generating ideas you’ll also benefit from the raised awareness of water conservation and implementation may also be easier because the actions will be more likely to have staff support. It is also important to have support from senior managers at the site so that resources can be made available to implement water saving actions. |
Once you’ve identified the actions you’ll need to include them in an action plan. An action plan outlines:
- What water conservation actions will be implemented;
- How much it will cost to implement;
- How much water will be saved;
- How much money will be saved;
- How long it will take for the cost savings to pay back the costs of implementing the action;
- When the action will be completed. |
It is also sometimes possible to gain external funding support for your water conservation actions. For a list of some funding opportunities see Funding.
