Media Information Statement - Burst Water Main in Boort 15/01/2010
Approximately 286 kilolitres of water was lost from a burst 200mm water main in Lakeview Street, Boort Wednesday afternoon. 13 customers were without water for up to five hours.

IN BRIEF

Time:

1.00pm - Coliban Water identified burst at site

2.15pm - Burst isolated and water turned off

2.45pm - Coliban Water maintenance crew arrive on site

7.15pm - Water supply restored to customers

Location:

Lakeview Street, Boort.

Customers:

13 customers were impacted.

Action taken:

A 1.5 meter long section burst from the water main, requiring five valves to be shut down to isolate the burst. A maintenance crew was sent from Bendigo to repair the water main.

286 kilolitres of water was lost from the 200mm diameter main. It is believed that the burst was due to the age of the pipe. The water main was originally laid in 1940.
