Media Information Statement - Sewer spill in Jobs Gully Road 4/12/2009
Approximately 10,000 litres of sewerage spilled into a 300 metre section of Jobs Creek this morning as a result of an overflow from a sewer manhole. There was no water in Jobs Creek at the time of the spill.

IN BRIEF

Time:

11.00am - Coliban Water notified of spill

11.30am - Coliban Water staff on site. Cause of spill removed and spill contained. Suction trucks on site to remove sewerage.

2.30pm - EPA arrive and inspect site

As at 5.00pm - Clean up is still continuing and will be monitored over the weekend

Location:

10 Jobs Gully Road, California Gully.

Cause of spill:

Blockage (fat) and minor tree roots.

Customers:

No customers were impacted. The EPA was on site today to inspect spill management – course of action agreed by both Coliban Water and EPA.
