CONSTRUCTION UNDERWAY FOR EPSOM SPRING GULLY PIPELINE12 January 2007

Coliban Water’s $35M Epsom Spring Gully Pipeline project is on track, with local contractor Leed Engineering commencing work this week on the recycled water pipeline. Construction works of the 14km pipeline have commenced, including an under road bore at Knight St White Hills and pipe laying and trenching in Epsom.

Coliban Water announced today investigative works are near completion for a new pipeline which will connect Heathcote directly to the Bendigo water supply system.

Coliban Water is ready to deal with the potential threat to Echuca’s water supply posed by the increased levels of Blue Green Algae (BGA) in the Murray River. Sampling and testing of the raw water supply has shown an increase in potentially toxic BGA in recent weeks.

Water Minister John Thwaites today inspected progress on Bendigo’s $35 million Epsom Spring Gully Recycled Water Project, following the recent arrival of pipe components.

STAGE 1 WATER RESTRICTIONS TO BE INTRODUCED

From the 11th December 2006, Stage 1 water restrictions will apply to residents within our Goulburn Murray system, replacing Permanent Water Saving Rules that were introduced on 1 July 2006.
